Les chercheurs et enseignants-chercheurs (à partir du niveau doctorat) sont invités à envoyer des propositions d’atelier thématique au plus tard le 1er juillet 2020 en utilisant obligatoirement ce document en word téléchargeable.

  • sous la forme d’un résumé en français ou en anglais de 1 500 signes maximum (espaces compris),
  • en indiquant clairement le nom du ou des responsables de l’atelier et les intervenants pressentis (jusqu’à quatre avec éventuellement un discutant),
  • en précisant l’adresse mail, l’institution et/ou le laboratoire d’appartenance pour chacun des participants,
  • en nommant le document selon le modèle : congres2021_Nom-porteur_OBLIGATOIRE.doc

Les thèmes proposés peuvent relever d’un ou plusieurs domaines des sciences humaines et sociales (anthropologie, archéologie et histoire de l’art, droit, économie, géographie, histoire, islamologie et sciences religieuses, linguistique, littérature, philosophie, sociologie, science politique), dans une perspective globale ou régionale. Comme les années précédentes, le congrès est une invitation à dépasser les cloisonnements disciplinaires et institutionnels, en rassemblant des contributeurs d’horizon divers, travaillant en France et partout dans le monde. Les propositions collectives émanant de jeunes chercheurs, doctorants et post-doctorants sont encouragées. Les propositions de communication individuelle ne seront en revanche pas éligibles.

NB : Afin d’encourager la participation de chercheurs venant du Maghreb et du Moyen-Orient, une aide financière pour leur déplacement et leur hébergement pourra être accordée sur décision du conseil scientifique du GIS, en fonction des financements disponibles. Priorité sera donnée à la participation des jeunes chercheurs de ces régions.

Following three successful previous editions, the GIS (National Scientific Network) MOMM (MiddleEast and Muslim Worlds) is organising the 4th Middle-East and Muslim World Studies Conference on 28-29-30 June 2021 in the premises of the Arts, Languages and Humanities Faculty of Aix-Marseille Université.
This event is organized in collaboration with IREMAM, IDEMEC, CHERPA, IMAF, Institut Sociétés en Mutation en Méditerranée and in partnership with IISMM (Institute of Studies of Islam and Muslim World Societies) and SEMOMM (Society of Studies on the Middle-East and Muslim Worlds).
Researchers and university teachers (from PhD level upwards) are invited to send their proposals for thematic panelsno later than 1 July 2020 using the document in link.

  • Providingan abstract in French or English of a maximum of 1500 characters (spaces included).
  • Mentioning the name of the panel convenor (and co-convenors if it applies) and of the potential speakers (up to four speakers with possibly one discussant),
  • Specifying the e-mail address, institution and/or research centre to which each participant belongs,
  • Naming the document according to the following template : congres2021_NAME of THE CONVENOR.doc

The themes of the panels should fall under one or more fields in the humanities and social sciences (anthropology, archaeology and history of art, law, economics, geography, history, islamology and religious sciences, linguistics, literature, philosophy, sociology, political science), in a global or regional perspective. As in previous years, the congress is an invitation to move beyond disciplinary and institutional compartmentalization, by bringing together contributors from diverse backgrounds, working in France and around the world. Collective proposals from young researchers, doctoral and post-doctoral students are encouraged. However, proposals for individual communications will not be eligible.

NB: In order to encourage the participation of scholars from the Maghreb and the Middle East, financial assistance for their travel and accommodation may be granted upon decision of the GIS Scientific Council, depending on the available funding. Priority shall be given to the participation of junior scholars from these regions.

The proposals will be evaluated by the GIS Scientific Committee, which will give its response to the participants in early October 2020. Once the panel proposal has been accepted, the list of participants may be completed or amended until 15 December 2020. The final panel programme should be submitted by that date.

Registration fees (to be paid in the first quarter of 2021) :

  • 30 euros for all participants (panel participants and public)
  • Exemption for members of SEMOMM (Society for Middle East and Muslim World Studies)
  • 10 euros for doctoral students participating in a panel
  • Exemption for other students (Bachelor and Master) but registration is compulsory.
