This book contains the proceedings of a study day held December 9, 2011 at the INHA, in memory of father Michele PICCIRILLO, ofm. Died in 2008, he devoted all his energy and enthusiasm to the attention of Christian archaeology in the Middle East for over 40 years. His friends and colleagues wished to pay tribute to him by unpublished communications with themes the various lines of research pursued by the Franciscan archaeologist both the architecture on the decoration, the liturgical furniture on the material culture of the Eastern Christian (4th-8th century). The contributions illustrate his scientific career but also his work that largely expanded our knowledge of these areas through regular discoveries he made in particular in Jordan and he complete corpus of churches and mosaics. He had been careful to always develop extensive excavation to place the buildings in their urban context, contributing in an exemplary manner to the knowledge of a region, rich in ruins and of great importance for the history of Late Antiquity and early medieval period: it is these aspects which were interested the texts that make up this volume.
