Histoire et archéologie du Proche-Orient et de l’Arabie du Nord, de l’âge du Fer à l’Antiquité tardive

Après une thèse consacrée à l’histoire et au peuplement de la Syrie du Sud de l’âge du Fer à l’annexion romaine (xiie s. av. n. è. – ier s. apr. n. è.), j’ai étendu mes recherches à l’Arabie du Nord antique, de l’âge du Fer à la veille de l’Islam. Plus précisément, mes travaux actuels en Arabie du Nord portent sur :

  • les cycles et les modalités de peuplement ;
  • les pouvoirs indigènes (nature, chronologie, rapports avec les empires) ;
  • les échanges à longue distance (chronologie, circuits, nature) ;
  • les cultures (échanges culturels et acculturations).

Ces recherches englobent l’ensemble de l’Arabie du Nord, de la mer Rouge au Golfe persique, grâce à leur ancrage dans deux grands programmes archéologiques internationaux que je codirige : la mission archéologique de Dadan, dans le nord-ouest de la péninsule (CNRS / AFALULA / RCU), et la mission archéologique de Thaj, en Arabie orientale (CNRS / Saudi Heritage Commission).
